THE REXUS CORPORATION: Professional Background Screening Company

Ask Rexus (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q. Why do background screening at all?
A. The cost of a bad hiring decision far exceeds dollar figures alone. Loss of productivity, morale, and at times, damage to the reputation of a company can occur. Employees need a work environment that is safe from drugs, theft, harassment and violence if they are to function as successful team members. The responsibility for providing this safe work environment rests with the employer. Under negligent hiring, supervision, and retention court rulings liability is assigned to an employer for the actions of its employees. A good background screening program can considerably reduce liability exposure by providing detailed, verified information before the employer makes a hiring decision.

Q. How long have you been in business?
A. We have been in business since 1989.

Q. How do you protect our sensitive, proprietary information?
A. The security of your information is a top priority with Rexus. As your information is received, it is automatically encrypted, and internal access to it is tightly controlled and monitored. When your reports are returned they are encrypted as well to prevent unauthorized access or identity theft. We do not store your information for resale to outside vendors, and 90-days after sending you an encrypted report, all of your proprietary, sensitive information is destroyed.

Q. Is there a one stop national criminal record search?
A. There is one system, the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), which is operated by the FBI. Only sworn police officers are authorized to conduct a nationwide search of these criminal records. Federal law denies access to the public and private companies. But, county, state and federal records are accessible individually, and Rexus conducts a thorough, cost-effective search by using a smart combination of the three record systems.

Q. How long does it take to get a report on a job applicant?
A. Three business days. If, for some reason a delay occurs, you will be advised immediately of the reason, and when you can expect the finished report.

Q. How much does a report cost?
A. This depends on the depth of the background work requested. Rexus uses a menu system, which allows you to decide the searches required that match your needs. One price or package does not fit all. Each background conducted is tailored to the applicant according to your directions. For example, the CEO search will cost more than that of a warehouse worker.

Q. Can I be certain the applicants' rights as well as my rights as an employer are protected?
A. Yes. All of our reports conform to EEOC and the Fair Credit Reporting Act guidelines. All information is handled with the utmost care and held in strict confidence.

Q. How do I get started?
A. Contact us. A Rexus representative will provide you with the information you need.
